Picture it--sometime a few weeks ago a bumbling aspiring writer needed 3 more bucks to make her Walmart order free. She scrambles to think of something to stick into her cart until it dawns on her--sunflower seeds. She goes for the David's, but they want too much money for too little product. Some options come with yucky flavors. Others...ehhh...let's just say it would have been easier to go to the store. Regardless, she finds something and continues on. Enter....
Rebellion Harvest. "Our flavors break the rules", they say in a big, yellow scrolling text. You bet. With flavors like Lemon Pepper Wet and Off The Grill, one should expect something different than other brands.
I'll spare you the history. Get to know them on your own time! On to the review!
I would be a dirty ol' liar if I sat here and told you these seeds were terrible. A little salty,
yes. Was the bag a wee bit small, yes. Was there flavor, at least? Again, yes. Very prominent flavoring. I chose the Exotic Ranch. I was expecting Ranch. I licked and savored each seed to get that Exotic Ranch kick. Did I get it? No. Was I disappointed? A little. However, despite the difference in flavor versus flavor name, I had an interesting experience. I tasted more garlic and black pepper than I did "ranch flavor". If you're of a certain age, you know what I mean when I say "Ranch flavor". It's just...ranchy. That savory dill flavor with a hint of onion and garlic powder. The thing that put Hidden Valley on the map.
Maybe there was a flavor mixup? Who knows.
They weren't bad. Out of 5 stars, I give them a 3.9. The saltiness beat my tastebuds a bit. The lack of classic ranch left me a little disappointed. I saw the effort in different flavoring and wanted to touch down on that--this brand is ok! It has me interested in the other flavors. I purchased my bag at Walmart, but they do have an online store of their own. Give them a try.
