Product Review: Fisher Nut Exactly Snack Bites

I give all my love to PinchMe for hooking me up with a freebie dipped in chocolate. Savory, crunchy things that are dipped in chocolate are to be praised and stuffed into one's pocket or tote bag as often as possible! This quarter-sized delight is the perfect snack for those moments when you want something delightful, but have a thousand voices in your head telling you about sugar spikes that lead to sugar addictions, and that "diet" you started last week. (It could also be because your purse is so full of crap that adding an actual candy bar would probably make it burst at the seams, but let's just pretend like you're interested in the healthy-ish bits of this snack.)

Honey, let's tawk about Fisher's delightful Nut Exactly Snack Bites. They come in five flavors:

  • Almond/Blueberry dipped in Dark Chocolate
  • Almond/Popcorn dipped in Milk Chocolate
  • Almond/Popcorn in Dark Chocolate
  • Peanut/Popcorn dipped in Peanut Butter
  • Pecans/Popcorn dipped in Salted Caramel.
Basically, yum smashed together with another yum-based thing, dipped in that other thing you like. (But then again, if you have nut allergies, cocoa allergies, and are lactose intolerant, this is probably something you don't like.)

I got an adorable little sample in the mail last week. There were exactly ten pieces (yes, I counted.), which is the suggested serving. This stinks. Lemme tell you why. Lemme tell you why I want several bags, a truckload, and possibly a hunky delivery guy or woman to provide me with weekly parcels of this deliciousness.

First of all, this is an indulgent snack that isn't full of calories. There's 15 per snack bite, with no cholesterol, 7 grams of sugar, and 120 mg of sodium. Second, it's a quarter-sized treat that's light and airy with a good crunch and plenty of flavor. Third, the combination of the whole grain popcorn and the roasted almonds kinda gives the snack bites a caramel-like taste. Finally, the milk chocolate is sweet, but not so incredibly sugary that it overpowers the snack bite experience. In other words, you're gettin' slightly salty, a little sweet, a lotta savory.

Each bite tends to have more popcorn than nuts, but that's really not a problem. The sample of the Almond-Popcorn was delicious. The sweetness was just enough to curb my cravings for something "dessert-like", and didn't have that weird fake sugar taste most of these diet-conscious treats tend to have. It's about as realistic as you can get about snacking responsibly when you want something other than fruit or some other non-candy, non-pastry sweet.

Fisher Nut Exactly Snack Bites get an A+ from me. The sweet, nutty smell lured me in. The delicious combo of milk chocolate, salted whole grain popcorn, and savory roasted almonds had me hooked. They all combine to create a crunchy, sweet snack suitable for any occasion.
