Baby's First Pride Parade!!

I think this will be my shortest blog post ever, because I am dog tired from yesterday! Darling readers, I attended Pride Parade!! This was my first, and I was pleased as punch to be there with my SGI family. Not only THAT, but I'd never been and I wanted to "be with my people" as my dad is always saying. It's not really something I bring up, but it was a totally cosmic moment for me, and I WILL be back in that community very soon. Without saying a word, I felt like I came out yesterday. :)

It was steaming yesterday, and I pushed all this big body about 4 miles along. I'm proud of myself, but I
probably won't do it again until my body isn't so big. Next year, I will be a spectator cheering my group on, grabbing all the swag, and wearing a fabulous tie dye thing with my rainbow earrings.

What can I say about the day? I saw so many beautiful people. I saw newlyweds, proud parents, beaming organizations, and stunning costumes. I heard all my favorite jams and absorbed the energy of the pumped up crowd. I felt the love, man. I felt the love. I also got my first pair of beads the other day. I'm such a dork, lol. I'm pumped over the beads. I also have a pride band on my fat wrist, which will be coming off soon to preserve the moment.

I wish I could have stayed for the after-parade debauchery, but I was sweaty and not really "Dressed up", so to speak. I carried my behind back to the SGI Center and got a ride home with a member. Today, this tired big body will be at home in the hot tub. I'm going to slowly clean up my room and enjoy the Summer breeze. If you want to watch the parade, go here! If you're insanely nosy enough, I have an album of my day here.

This day was all about progress, pride, and remembrance. Never ever forget WHY these parades exist--Stonewall. Never ever forget WHO fought. I believe that a lot of articles tend to wash out people of color when Stonewall is discussed. It goes double for women. While a lot of mainstream articles are nice, head on over to Tumblr to get a better understanding. I know that sometimes Tumblr gets that bad vibe of having "SJ Warriors" and all that madness, but you can actually learn a thing or two.

Happy Pride!
