Product Review/BzzAgent Report: Schick Hydro Silk Razor (Sensitive Skin)

It's that time again, and BzzAgent knows how to touch my heart-- A good razor. For those of us with sensitive skin, addressing grooming issues such as body hair can be a painful task. Sometimes just using any old razor leaves the shaved surface with itchy and irritated skin. If it bothers you enough, you're gonna scratch it, right? Then, you've got discoloration from abrasive skin contact. All that, just for the ultimate smoothness! Not cool.

The average razor blade for women usually has about two, maybe three blades. For yours truly, this usually gets the job done. The area of choice is usually clean shaven, but I have to go over certain parts at least once or twice to get the smoothness I want. As a woman, of course I want the ultimate smooth surface! As a person with areas where skin is sensitive, I can also tell you this--itching and irritation is a problem. There's nothing cute about freshly shaven legs that also itch like you've been rolling around in poison ivy with a side order of dollar store lotion. In the end, you're just raw from the scratches. The after-shave irritation is murder, and you're splashing all the soothing lotions and ice you can find to kill the fires of the beauty regimen.

Enter Schick's Sensitive Skin Razor. Four blades of soothing, close cut action to clear whatever area you choose. When I tested this blade, right off the bat I felt no pain whatsoever. With other blades, there's always a sting, a twinge of pain, and usually a little blood. This blade glided over areas with ease, smoothly eliminating hair as I shaved. There were few areas I had to go over again.

What I loved about this particular brand is that the shave is a close cut. Not so close where you'll feel a sting

or pain, but just close enough to get the job done. I felt the chill of the blade on my face, but the protection and moisture of its water-activated hyrdosoft razor head. As the day wore on, there was little stubble and parts of my test area are indeed still smooth.

I really think that this blade answers the issue most women have about not getting a close enough shave. We often envy male razors that tend to have all the blades they need to get the job done. I know I've been pretty bitter at times, wondering how any lady is expected to accomplish her beauty ritual with just two or three. For women of color who may have coarse areas to contend with, razors dull quickly and fill fast. It's frustrating to have to make do with an inadequate product, cleaning and cleaning again to save a buck.

I was very pleased with my results, and will surely be adding this wonderful razor to my personal grooming shopping list in the near future. The serum aided my shave journey, and added a slick smoothness that eliminated the usual irritation. There were no nicks or cuts. Just smooth, serum-filled shaving. Win!
