Product Review--Grumpy Cat Grumppuccino

When the pre-order announcement hit the company Facebook page, I grabbed my credit card and ordered a sampler pack. That was in late August with a promise of a Late September shipment. Ever the patient lover of this popular meme and caffeinated drinks, I was so happy when my package came a couple of weeks ago. MY GRUMPY CAT GRUMPPUCCINO IS HERE! WOOP! WOOP WOOP! WOOP!

If you don't know what/who a Grumpy Cat is, allow me to direct you to the original video, some meme history, and Google Images. Shoot, go to Facebook for a minute. Now that you've caught up, let me tell you all about the Grumpy Cat Grumpuccino Sampler pack. Comin' in at Eight bucks and ninety-five cents, you get three 13.7 ounce bottles of the three flavors--mocha, vanilla, and plain ol' coffee.

  • Vanilla was kinda light in the taste department. I really didn't taste any hints of coffee, and pretty much considered it to be more like lowfat milk with a vanilla taste. It's all right, but not really my favorite flavor.
  • The Mocha flavor was a somewhat rich, smooth taste. Definite hints of coffee goodness with a touch of creamy milk chocolate. The flavoring lingered on my tongue and had a teeeny hint of bitterness, but not enough to ruin the drinking experience. Tossing this one in the "like" pile.
  • The Coffee flavor. UGH. SO GOOD. I wanted more. I took slow, prolonged sips after the first hit. This was the good stuff. The flavoring in this bottle is something I think Starbuck's should be fearing. In the 'ccino world, you surely want a taste and a flavor to remember. Grumpy Cat's Coffee flavor is it. For coffee and cappuccino lovers who're big on flavor, believe me--this is creamy dreamy chilled goodness with just the right balance of sweet and savory cocoa delight.
I was quite pleased with the trio of Grumppuccino flavors. I kinda stepped up to the plate thinking they were gonna be a collection of icky novelty flavors just for show. After three nights of a coffee-fueled buzz, I found out I was wrong. Team Grumpy Cat brewed and bottled a winner with their brand. If I can't find it in stores, I'm gladly looking forward to getting a case of my favorites to stock in the fridge. As for the bottles, I'm thinking about putting some more origami stars inside, and gluing the top shut. Instant novelty item turned bedroom decoration. :-D
