Dry skin runs wild and free in my immediate family. It's something we don't like to talk about. It's something we usually tackle in the shower or the bedroom before heading out. It's something I...obsess over. In the Black community, those dry and white patches will earn you the label of "ashy". It's embarrassing! It gets you talked about. It's...dry and itchy.
As an adult, it just makes you look unkempt to people. We've all had those days when we just forget. (Or maybe that's just me, trying to rush out the door...) There are certain months, however, that simply will not allow it. I'm talking about Autumn and Winter. These are the months when the chilly factor sets in, and the dryness takes over. Enter Curél Intensive Healing Cream.
This Diabetic-friendly, hypo-allergenic healing cream is a thick and generous product that gets in all the nooks and crannies of dry areas. Despite the urge you may have to coat yourself like it's regular lotion, don't. You will be rubbing and rubbing for hours. A dab goes a long way with stunning, smooth, glistening and moisturized results.
I tried the sample pots on my hands and feet. I also gave a few to my father--a retired Plant Operations Engineer who worked at Chicago State University for 34 years. Over time, working with all those chemicals left their mark. He says most lotions he applies don't last for very long. "My skin will drink them up," he commented. So, for about a week or two, we both tried this stuff out to see what would happen. Our ceramides (natural lipids that are a part of skin structure) were thankful for the samples, let me tell ya.

As I mentioned before, I tried the healing cream on my hands and feet. Let me just be direct about the feet--they are a serious dry zone. They've been that way since childhood, and if I miss a day of some kind of lotion or oil, they let me know. Once I applied the cream, my feet felt lubricated and smooth. The icky dry patches were gone. I had that "fresh from the spa" look all over my pudgy piggies. (Apologies if my icky crust talons make you barf. o_o)
My hands weren't as dry, but still have their patches. On my thumbs and between my fingers, things get dry and crackly during the chilly months. This cream filled those cracks and left my hands smooth and shiny. I was so excited about that. I had to share with my dad.
When he tried it, he sorta treated it like a regular lotion. So it took him a while to rub it on. When he was finished, I watched those big ol' dry hands become smooth, brown, and beautiful. In the beginning, he was puzzled by the thickness of the cream, but impressed by the day-to-day results. Between the two of us, the Curél Healing Cream lasted at least two and a half days. When I say it went in and healed, I mean it.
My favorite part about this stuff is that it has no smell. It's not too feminine with perfumed scents, and it's not heavy with masculine colognes. It has a basic, asexual cream scent that really helps to retain the moisture in your skin. The texture lacks the greasy appeal, but makes your skin glisten a little bit. For the unkind Winters of Chicago when it's shovel duty time, I'll be sure to secure my hands and feet with this cream.
Disclaimer: I am a BzzAgent. I was invited to participate in the campaign for Curél Intensive Healing Cream by email from BzzAgent. I received six sample pots in the mail and was not paid for my product review. My opinions are all my own--no rehearsals no scripts! I simply agreed to try the product, participate in campaign events, and report back to BzzAgent and to my personal blog. Bada bing, Bada boom!
