VitaFrute Veev Klout Perk Product Review

FINALLY my perk from Klout and Veev is here. I had to contact them by way of a complimentary e-mail to get things sorted out. Eventually, my perk arrived in all its two-bottle glory. Having waited weeks and weeks to get the taste-test party started, the fam and I were more than ready to begin classy sips of this Acai-ridden organic cocktail in a bottle.

I've never heard of VitaFrute, but apparently have been sipping on their Cosmopolitan brand every time I've gone to a LongHorn Steakhouse. When I got the perk invite for this stuff, I wondered if it was going to be like that SkinnyGirl nonsense I kept seeing on TV. Comin' in at 30-proof on the alchy-hol scale, lemme tell ya--the word of the day is "POTENT".

When I say "potent", take my word for it. I gave some to my dad and his girlfriend, and the seasoned old man made a face like...."whoa, what the crap is THIS?" He kept asking me if this was a base drink to mix with something. I mean, that's the whole point of VitaFrute--it's supposed to be a cocktail in a bottle. Just add ice and enjoy. It's 125 calories of organic delight in Margarita, Lemonade, and Cosmopolitan flavors. So basically, it's for those of us who don't have time to get ingredients together, blend, and then clean up the mess. However, as strong as this stuff is.....

Since I'm a lady who likes the sweeter side of alcoholic drinks, I usually avoid tart and hard-tasting spirits. While the Margarita flavor was a touch....hard on my senses, it wasn't bad. I like mine in a small glass with a helping of ice, lol. The lemonade flavor was not my cup of tea. It reminded me of straight up Vodka. So, I'm not sure if I personally would like to have either bottled cocktail alone. I attempted to mix the Margarita flavor with Orange Fanta, and it was terrible. The booze completely over-powered the soda. I added a strawberry syrup mix, and it was okay-ish. Still not that great. Finally, I mixed it in with Wild Hibiscus from ThinkGeek. Sweet, but still had that alcoholic taste.

  What did I expect?

I must admit that when I read the headlines of an "organic cocktail in a bottle", I was hoping for something light and sweet. As much as I wanted to like both bottles, I ended up tolerating them instead. I still have the Lemonade Cocktail in my fridge, hoping to wrap my mitts around some Ginger Ale for a final taste test.

I think the Vita Frute Cocktail line is best suited for recipes, and not straight up out the bottle. It's way too strong to just sip on alone. The boldness of flavoring is so Vodka-esque that it becomes extremely potent in your mouth and on the way down. I really don't see how anyone would be able to down it straight (unless you're into that. Then by all means, chug-a-lug!) Will I be going out to get some? Ehhh, probably not. Hand me a hard lemonade and leave me be!
