If you don't know who Remy Shand is, I'm going to need you to go back to 2002 and check yourself. Re-evaluate your music choices, Google this man, and savor his blue-eyed Soul flavor. Remy Shand is a hunky and talented Canadian singer who brought us the gem Take a Message, and left us with his stunning work The Way I Feel. I can't begin to tell you how many Summer days in 2002 and 2003 I spent listening to his album. I muted games late at night to level up by his music. I'm still devoting moments of my life to his timeless sound. He's channeling Marvin Gaye, Prince, and Smokey.
When dearest Remy fell off the musical radar, it was a sad moment. Those who dug him wanted more, more, more. We created blogs, message board posts, and devoted Twitter accounts to figure out his whereabouts. From those sources, I found out a year or two ago that he was married, divorced in 2009, and had sadly lost his mother to Cancer. We all assumed many things as to why he disappeared, and craved his return. With music so rich, powerful, and passionate, I think it's safe to say the fans wanted more. How could we tell him that? His former music label wiped his page clean. I suppose that while we respected his privacy, we still wanted him back. It just felt like the music scene was missing something...
Well, yesterday I was minding my own biz on Tweet Deck when I saw it. He re-tweeted my Spotify status of a Sade song. I gasped, I did a double-take, I tried not to scream at 4:50 in the morning. I clutched all the
pearls and savored in the moment.
Then, of course I fangirled and Tweeted about it. When HE tweeted back, that was IT. Remy Shand called me sweet. I felt the musings of my old crush on him burn red-hot in my soul. This was the man who wrote the songs that occupy every single piece of media I own. This was the man who made me feel like I could get through anything--be it a trip on the road, or the greatest heartbreak ever.
Remy Shand is back, people. Follow him on Twitter. Hit up that YouTube and get acquainted with that soulful voice. Try not to throw yourself at the screen due to all that fine-ness. Time has been VERY kind to him. All I have to say is Robin Thicke, look out...lol. He's got his own label, he's releasing music....ohhhh what a time to be a Shand fan!
