It's time to return to the hive and give you the Bzz about my latest product review. I won't lie, I LOVE when the product is edible! Not only does it save a poor dame money, it's usually something that's better for me than a greasy ol' burger or artery clogging pizza. If I can get closer to winning the battle of the pear-shaped bulge, I'm all for it. Lo and behold, the latest product I've been asked to review satisfies my sweet tooth like nobody's business. With a hint of honey and a light coating of Nuts, I bring to you the splendor that is Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Cereal--Golden Honey Nut edition.
When I read my intro card, I was a little confused. A cereal with peanuts? Honey taste? I was expecting some kind of wacky combination that wouldn't taste right at all. I thought about eating it dry just to humor myself. So I opened the box, stuck my hand inside, grabbed a few flakes. Don't let the name fool you. While each flake is lovingly covered by a small shaving of peanuts, you're not going to be overwhelmed by some kind of honey-peanutty taste. The one thing that does seem to stand out is the standard cornflake and honey taste. Dry or wet, this cereal tastes perfectly sweet. Not the kind of sweetness that changes the color of your milk, not the kind that makes you feel like you need to jog for an hour, but the kind of sweetness that could easily slay a sugar craving with just one bowl.
The first person who tried the cereal was a 13 year-old girl. She says to me-- "this tastes like Frosted Flakes, but it's good". As a matter of fact, I had to hide the box because she kept referring to it as hers. I don't mind sharing, but I'll put it to you this way--this cereal is good eatin'. Have it for breakfast, crunch on it for lunch, or kick it old school like my cousin and I used to with cereals of the past--have a bowl before bed! If you have family, please buy more boxes. Once they find out how great and sweet this stuff is, you'll either have to hoard it or go to the store every other day for a new box of cereal. Trust me when I say this--it's just that good.
This is indeed Frosted Flakes-esque cereal, but the sweetness of the honey with the slight savory nut taste puts it in a category all its own. At the end of your cereal journey, even the milk has a nutty, honey taste to it. Once the box was empty (the culprit, a tall and very hungry certain young lady....*growl*), my taste tester and I were in full agreement--Crunchy Nut is pretty dang awesome stuff. It's got all the sweetness and crunch she and I both like, but lacks the sugar and sodium I honestly do not need in my diet. So, go out, get a box, share with your friends and family. Enjoy the sweet and savory taste already!
