Two things about Ms. Williams--I love Frosted Mini-Wheats and I love most things berry flavored. When I finally decided to stop eating cereal with all the dyes and crap, I leaned in the direction of fibers and whole wheaty things. As a long time fan of Frosted Mini-Wheats (and sometimes their generic cousins), I was very pleased when my regular cereal wasn't available and I had to make do with this berry replacement, with a touch of fruit in the middle. Raspberry Frosted Mini-Wheats, welcome to my cereal rotation.
It's not a huge gush of berry in the middle of the mini-wheat. It's more like a spritz, a tiny glob, or a taste. It's kinda like a thicker version of the filling in a piece of Gusher's candy or the berry goo filling of a dessert. It's a sweet, noticeable raspberry taste. It reminded me of the kind of filling you get in cakes or dessert pastries. At the expense of sounding like a frilly old girl, it was awfully delightful. In any case, when the box says "touch of fruit", they mean it. It's directly in the middle of the eight layers all special and berry and stuff.
With my awful sweet tooth, I found myself snacking on these straight and dry. It helped to curb my usual desires for bad things after 11, while gettin' my fiber on in the process. The combo of frosting and the sweet middle sort of reminded me of a frosted dessert cake, or a raspberry shortbread cookie from Figi's. I'm trying not to eat the rest of them, because they are sooooo amazing in milk. I cannot say that enough. It's extra sweet to drink the raspberry milk after a bowl. UGH...why isn't raspberry milk a thing? That would be awesome.
The only difference between this and the regular flavored Frosted Mini-Wheats is that the fruit taste is all in the inside, instead of outside or part of the frosting. It changed my milk into a soft pink color, and gave it a berry flavor. For something "different", it was nice to try. Full of fiber and all that dagnabbed whole grain everyone's raving about, this is a great cereal to have dry or in milk. If you're not keen on raspberry, it also comes in mixed berry, which is a blueberry-strawberry mix. I guess they're still coming up with flavors, but I wouldn't mind a plain strawberry mix. Now go, cereal lovers. Go to your local grocers and partake of this sweet, nutritional goodness!
