Drums Please!

It might as well be Summertime in Chicago. It jumped from the high 50s to the sticky mid-70s within days. Technically, this should be Spring or Sprinter (that middle ground between Winter and Spring). What does this all mean, anyway? Is a tornado gonna come and sweep us away? Are we fixin' to get flooded? Or maybe, maybe Mother Nature finally took some pity on our frozen, snowed in souls and decided to kickstart Spring and Summer all at once. I think I'm cool with that. :-) Now that the warm breezes are here, I'm hearing Summertime in my head. It happens every year when that first nice warm temp comes along.

This means my dad will be outside fooling with his lawn every single day. This means he and I get to go back to the Dan Ryan Woods for our "walkies and talkies" moments. It also means grandma comes to visit, my board shorts get to come out and play, and the ice cream man cometh. All we need is a couple of little girls selling ice cups on a corner and it's officially warm-weather season! I'm hoping and praying this is it, trusting the forecast ahead. I feel....compelled to plant something. Should I? Grandmother would be so proud if I at least tried to cultivate life in her garden. It also means I'm getting closer to my last two classes before I graduate. Nothing fancy though. This is just the beginning. It's the turning point after the academic fiasco of early 2011. I needed to set some goals and values for myself, and I'm almost there. :-)

So long, chilly weather. It's time to skip in a field with small children and throw flowers everywhere!
