Whitney Houston has died. She was 48 years old. I really don't know what to say and the story seems to be developing at the moment. I just so happened to see it on Facebook and I'm so shocked right now. I can't help but shed some tears and feel hurt after all she's been through and how she was trying to come back. I grew up with her music and even though I don't know her personally, I loved who she was as a singer.
Developing story.
UPDATE--February 11, 2012 8:26 P.M. CST
At 3:23 PM California time, it was reported that she was unconscious in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was found by her body guard Ray, not the singer Ray-J as some reports have said. By 3:55 PM, she was pronounced dead. After working on her, they were unable to revive her. I'm glued to the TV right now, watching CNN and putting the finishing touches on my own school work. There's a lot of information going on at the moment. Will be updating for anyone who isn't at the TV. As expected, the Internet is abuzz both on a positive and negative scale about her death. I can't really get upset about it, but there are a lot of classless people behind keyboards tonight with nothing else better to do.
NEW UPDATES-- February 13, 2012 10:11 P.M. CST
I'm sure those who care have been trying to stay glued to every story, every new additional piece of news we can get. There is a lot out there. As the story unfolds, it's now known that she was found in the bath originally, but there wasn't enough water in her lungs to be considered the cause of death. I believe that her stylist was the one who tried CPR to revive her. Whitney's ex-husband Bobby Brown is completely distraught over her death and the current state of their daughter. He is currently in California to be with her. Speaking of Bobbi Kris, she tried to see her mother at the hotel, but was not allowed. That lead to an escalated fight with police and eventually the poor young woman was taken to the hospital. Earlier today, I heard someone say she was released and then re-admitted under suicide watch. TMZ claims to have the scoop on what killed the fallen Pop star--anti-anxiety pills and alcohol. Quite honestly, I want to wait for the official ruling by the coroner--which I thought wasn't supposed to be finished until weeks from now. Houston's body is supposed to be flown to her hometown of Newark on Tyler Perry's jet.
As a young girl who grew up with Whitney's music on TV and radio, it has been especially hard to accept she has passed on. All assumptions aside, I always hoped in my heart that she'd come out on top and eventually pass on from old age naturally. I listened to her music as I worked earlier this morning and the tears just fell like waterfalls from my eyes. I didn't have to meet her to love her. I really don't want to hear about how "ghetto" people think she is or who introduced whom to what drug. I want to focus on the positive. That's not ignoring her negative aspects, but I'm trying to be respectful. You don't respect the dead by "telling the truth" aka dwelling on the bad side. We're all aware.
Just as I wrote in a post on Prince.org--I refuse to lose my you-know-what over all these ignorant and sarcastic people. My diva would expect a fan to be classy. Classy I shall be....just for her.
Developing story.
