Steve Jobs

A great loss in the tech world happened yesterday. As fans, critics, and neutral parties flock to Twitter and other media-based sources, we've all got something to say about him. Some of us have a lot to say, some of us have a little to say. There are loving memoirs, tough jokes, and inappropriate banter all over the Internet. After his step down from the company a while ago, the end of a technological was drawing near. A new one is on the horizon in his name.

I found out by way of an e mail from ABC Breaking News that Steve Jobs died. I yelled as I read it, wiping a short stream of hot tears from my eyes. I knew he had Pancreatic Cancer and figured his step down from Apple was just more time off for him to keep fighting it. Once I heard he died peacefully in his sleep yesterday, it all became clear. He knew he did not have much time left. The world, however, probably had a little hope that he'd still be here a little longer.

I will be brief because this topic will be stretched out a thousand fold by beloved fans and users of his products. I only have off and on usage of Apple products. At the moment, I'm solely an iPod using woman. I've got my eyes on a Mac Computer in the future. In any case, Apple has always been an admirable company in my eyes. Mr. Jobs has always been some kind of inspiration to me. He never stopped believing in himself and ended up sharing a multitude of wonderful technological products with the world. Whether one agrees or not, he turned the tech world around in more ways than one. All the snark in the world about the product being for Hipsters won't make me stop admiring this man. All the inappropriate pictures and jealousy won't make me hate him, either. The fact that people are going there says something--he's a huge driving force in our lives. If he wasn't, he'd be a blip on the radar. It comes with the territory of doing great things. Everyone's a critic.

His brilliance and his legacy will be forever embedded within the products he's released into our world. He gave my uncle his high-end job, he inspired me to continue fighting for my career dreams, and has given many people in this world the power to touch others through a plethora of different mediums. I was introduced to him by way of his products as a child and a young woman. When I became an adult, his amazing musical tools allowed me to literally carry my heart on my sleeve and go out into the world with a theme song for every step I took. He will live on forever. He is now at rest after a long, eventful, and fruitful life. I am thankful for his efforts and for all he's left for us to live out our own personal dreams and desires. From the old time Mac computers with the giant floppy discs, to the book-sized iPads on everyone's desks, he created a new world that will never be the same because of his efforts.
