Yes, I am a 'keet mommy. I call my birds "my children", talk to them like children, and do my best to lovingly bond with them. We still haven't reached that point of togetherness just yet, however. I think we're at the stage where they can tolerate me. That's good enough since they've been here since October of last year. It's amazing how much they've changed since I got them nine months ago.
They're singers, dancers, and pullers of bird beds. These two are my comical sweethearts and well worth every single penny that I've spent on them. Some people have their doggies, others have their kitties. I've had Parakeets in my keep since I was about six years old. They are honestly great company and a wonderful source of entertainment. I'm pretty sure these two are tired of me watching them preen and care for each other, but it's so cute. When they're not fighting or trying to out-scream one another, they have a lot of tender moments where everyone's quiet, cuddling, or just chattering away.
Vega is my meek sweetie pie. He doesn't make much noise unless he's purely annoyed or insanely energized. When he's energized, he likes to come out and sit on top of the birdcage or fly around the room. I have an old compact mirror I secured for he and Ganymede to play on. Surely I named Vega right. He LOVES to check himself out. He thinks he's hot stuff just like the ol' Street Fighter dude himself.
Ganymede is the complete opposite. Loud, bossy, and attention-starved. If I'm talking to Vega, he gets mad and starts to screech a bit. If I don't do my usual greeting, he fusses until I turn around. It's always "mommy look at me!" mode. He's a tad pushy towards Vega, but sometimes Vega will push him about too. Sometimes it's a brother thing, other times I just think it's a "I'm gonna be a jerk today" thing. Just like children! Ganymede seems to warm up to me a little bit more than Vega, however. He will eat from my hand and sometimes lets me stroke him a little bit. He's not 100% keen on coming out, but he will fly up to the top of my curtain rods and roost with Vega. He also participates in a little cage-top activity if there's millet up there and the mirror is free.
My two boys have personalities all their own that keep me entertained for hours on end. I call them "Lum and Abner" because they're a pair of knuckle-heads acting in a comedy routine. The waddle, roll, stumble, and just have an energy about them that's really energetic. When I listen to music, they sing along. When I sing to them, they sit quietly and get a little sleepy or chatter along. They've discovered how to tell me things and I've learned how to tell when they're having a good day or a bad day. In return, we all get to live together in the comfort of my bedroom.
I have all sorts of pictures of them roosting, eating fruit, napping, and even staring right back at me while I film them. I never thought in a million years that I'd be the kind of 'keet mommy to do something like that. Something about their darling little faces makes it impossible. Every single moment is a darling one. Every single second is "digital camera gold"! Don't take my word as fact, but these little cutie pies have also helped me get of so much stress in my life. This is the main reason I got them. My father sort of noticed I was getting overwhelmed by school and such, and decided to get them for me. I guess he just knew birds do that for me.

They really are wonderful companions.
