Google + Invite!

It truly pays to ask, sometimes. Yesterday I was kinda sitting around working on some things for school, watching a little TV, and just being my regular self multi-tasking. I noticed one of my Youtube favorites, Mike Mozart, was offering Google + invites. As you may or may not know, Google + was basically bombarded with requests for invites to the point of a shutdown. Nobody would be able to get in until further notice. I was bummed, because I do love to try the latest in Google..er...Googling. All the cool people I knew or knew of had one. My favorite Youtube singer had one. A local webcomic artist I admired had one! So why would another face in the crowd get one? I decided to wait.

Well, last night that changed! Out of the goodness of his heart, Mike Mozart (aka the Jeepers Media Fail Toys guy) tweeted that he had invites and was giving them away. I decided to take a chance. What would it hurt? So I messaged him with my e mail address and went back to work knowing that I did not get in. Twenty minutes later, I came back to GMail. I got in! Yesssss!! Now I have a chance to try out the latest and greatest from Google, connect with people I already follow, and hopefully find some connections and networks for my blog. In any case, Google + is fun. I can already tell you that it's similar to Facebook, but also very different. I don't remember Facebook having the option to do video conference hang-outs. ;-)

My addiction level isn't there yet, though. I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and play with it well enough. Once I finish my first big paper for school, I will have a lot more time to get on that. If I am able to invite people, I will try to send out some random invites if anyone wants one. If you're a fan of Twitter or Facebook, trust me when I say it's well worth the hype Google+ has been throwin' out there.

Special thanks to Mike Mozart for makin' it happen for a dame on the Southside of Chicago!!
