About 2 hours ago (9:30 PM) Chicago time, we had a Thunderstorm. It was the typical Summer round of thunder, lightning, wind, and rain. Ten to twenty minutes later, it turned into something else altogether!
Thump, thump, thump, BUMP, CRASH went the windows. Little pellets of hail and such were coming down in buckets as if someone were outside pouring giant buckets of white marbles from the sky. It stopped for about 5 minutes before it came down HARDER and even more louder. I was pretty sure the house was going to come apart. It was an awful sound, but my father and I were the excited crazy people in the house taking all kinds of video and pictures. (Note to self--ask for a better digital camera to go with my FlipCam for those night time snapshots and videos!) It has been so long since we've actually had a Hailstorm come all on its own, TWICE! Nobody really expected the storm, but there it was in all its random stormy glory. Holy Hailstorms indeed, Robin!
