With Love

I left a similar copy of the poem below on my cousin's dresser before I left for home last week. I sat down in the middle of his room with the TV on and my mind buzzing from the day's event. Still dressed in my outfit of choice, I wrote from the heart. I was just suddenly inspired to write how I felt about watching him grow up from the little baby to the big man. I sat on the floor with pen and paper in hand, swelling with extreme pride over his latest chapter in life.

Like a sister,
to a brother,
I write this in tears,
in pride,
in amazement,
in joy.
I write this for one AJT.
Like a sister
to a brother,
A man is now before me.

As a babe, he ran.
As a toddler, he smiled.
As a child, he was my best friend.
From teen-age to nowadays,
He's the confident artist--
Flyy as can be.

I watched the end of one chapter,
the start of something new.
From tossed apples
to tossed caps with tassles,
He's off to something new.
AJT--I'M PROUD OF U!
